THE SKILL SET OF THE VICTORIAN TURNERS (a two-day class)

Four students with only moderate turning experience, sometimes just pen-making. Two instructors. Using a handful of very inexpensive and easily-made tools, make a prototype and then a replica of a antiqueVictorian perfume bottle holder. The making of this piece of household treen requires that you learn and use various specific skills that were old standbys of the Victorian turners: design, solidform, hollowform (modified), lid fitting, glue chuck use (i.e. turning with one end running free), interior and exterior matched threading, working with wood & bone.
